Dawgs down Beavers for second consecutive road win

Weyburn, Sask.- The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Weyburn Beavers 9-3 in front of 254 fans at Tom Laing Park on Wednesday night.

It was the Dawgs’ second straight win against the Beavers and it improved their season record to 33-12.

Lou Anderson (Montreal, Que.) led the way offensively for the Dawgs, going 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and an RBI.

Five Dawgs - Ricardo Sanchez (Okotoks, Alta.), Jarrett Burney (Reinhardt University), Logan Grant (Chestermere, Alta.), Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) and Alejandro Cazorla (Okotoks, Alta.) - had two hits each for the Dawgs.

Grant had the only home run of the game for the Dawgs, a solo shot in the eighth.

On the mound, Trent Warstler (Emporia State) started and allowed three runs in three innings.

Relievers Cam Stephens (Linn-Benton Community College), Chase Tucker (Mount Pearl, Nfld.) and Zane Morrison (Campbellsville University) followed with scoreless outings for the Dawgs with Tucker picking up the win.

Greg Ross (Sarnia, Ont.) struck out two in a scoreless ninth to close out the contest.

The Dawgs will continue their road trip when they face the Regina Red Sox on Thursday.
