Geekie, Luther, Rumberg lead Dawgs to win over Gulls

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Sylvan Lake Gulls on Sunday afternoon by a score of 4-1.
With the win, the Dawgs extend their first place lead in the west division and improve their record to 35-12.
David Case started on the mound and had a solid outing, tossing four innings and recording eight strikeouts while only giving up one run. Logan Rumberg (Okotoks, Alta.) earned the win, striking out the side in his sole inning of work. Relief efforts from Cade Herrmann, Connor Robbins (Calgary, Alta.) and Seth Thompson (Calgary, Alta.) helped to secure the Dawgs’ victory. Matt Wilkinson (Okotoks, Alta.) also earned his fourth save of the season.
The offence was led by Noah Geekie (Strathclair, Man.) who went 2-for-4 with a solo shot home run to open the scoring for the Dawgs. Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ont.) and Alex Stufft each contributed an RBI. Micah McDowell (Kentville, N.S.) also had a multi-hit game.
The Dawgs will travel to Lethbridge on Tuesday to face the Bulls before returning home Seaman Stadium for a four-game homestand.
