Regina, Sask. - The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Regina Red Sox 19-8 in front of 842 fans at Currie Field on Thursday night in the first meeting between the two clubs this season

With the win, the Dawgs improved to 34-12 on the season and now sit just a half-game back of the first-place Sylvan Lake Gulls in the Western Canadian Baseball League West Division standings.

Logan Grant (Chestermere, Alta.) led the way offensively for the Dawgs with five hits, including a home run and a triple. He also scored four runs and knocked in two.

Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) was also a force at the plate with three hits - including his seventh home run of the season - and five RBIs.

Jarrett Burney (Reinhardt University) and Caleb Lumbard (Regina, Sask.) also added three hits each, while Spencer Sullivan (Linn-Benton CC) clubbed his third home run of the season in the fifth inning.

On the mound, Graham Brunner (Sherwood Park, Alta.) started and allowed five runs in four innings before Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) and Cade Herrmann (Bellevue University) entered in relief and pitched scoreless innings. McFarland was rewarded with the win.

Trey Mackwood (Calgary, Alta.) closed out the game for the Dawgs, permitting one run on one hit in two innings.

The Dawgs continue their road trip on Friday when they take on the Red Sox again.
