Okotoks Dawgs

For the first time this season, the Okotoks Dawgs have lost two in a row, after dropping a 2-1 decision to the Fort McMurray Giants on Friday.

The Dawgs are now 8-4 on the season and remain in first in the West Division.

The Dawgs could only muster three hits on Friday. Cesar Valero (Calgary, Alta.) knocked home the loan run with a single that scored Ricky Sanchez. Valero went 2-for-3 in the loss.

Graham Brunner (Sherwood Park, Alta.) pitched four solid innings for the Dawgs. He gave up four hits and struck out four.

The Dawgs’ pen kept the game close, giving up only one hit, while striking out three, in the remainder of the game.

The dagger came in the eighth inning when the Giants scored their second run to give them the win.

The Dawgs and Giants will square off again on Saturday night in Fort McMurray.
