Official Okotoks Dawgs News Release

The Okotoks Dawgs lost 8-3 to Moose Jaw on Sunday afternoon.

The loss was their second straight to the Miller Express.

While Fathers Day brought out over 5,000 fans to Seaman Stadium, the Dawgs failed to bring in more than three runs, but they still sit atop the west division with a 14-5 record on the season.

Matt Wilkinson (Ladner, B.C.) made his season debut and fanned seven batters in five innings while giving up five earned, resulting in his first loss of the year.

Relief efforts from Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.), Quinn Tocheniuk (Okotoks, Alta.), Bode Brooks and Cade Hermann helped to hold the Dawgs’ deficit, which they could not overcome.

Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ont.) extended his hitting streak to nine games after going 1-for-4 with an RBI. Jacob Morrow went 1-for-3 and also added an RBI to his season total and turned in a solid defensive performance behind the plate.

Noah Geekie (Strathclair, Man.) and Ruben Cedillo also had multi-hit days.

The Dawgs will travel to Edmonton on Tuesday for a game before returning home to Seaman Stadium for a three-game homestand.
