The Okotoks Dawgs lost 2-1 to the Brooks Bombers in front of 5,139 fans on Teddy Bear Toss night at Seaman Stadium on Saturday.

With the loss, the Dawgs fall to 27-10 and two games back of the Sylvan Lake Gulls in the Western Canadian Baseball League West division standings.

Ricky Sanchez (Lamar University) had three hits for the Dawgs, while Kadyn Williams (Emporia State), Aidan Rose (Calgary, Alta.) and Jarrett Burney (Reinhardt University) had two each. Burney scored the Dawgs’ only run.

On the mound, Greg Ross (Sarnia, Ont.) started and allowed just one run in five innings.

Cade Herrmann (Bellevue University), Easton Corey (Linn-Benton Community College) and Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University) each contributed scoreless innings in relief.

The Dawgs will get a shot at redemption against the Bombers on Sunday when they travel to Elks Field.

The Dawgs will be back home on Thursday when they will host the Moose Jaw Miller Express for the first time this season.
