Dawgs earn Canada Day win

Okotoks, Alta - The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Swift Current 57’s 10-4 on Canada Day in front of 5,711 fans at Seaman Stadium.
With the victory, the Dawgs moved to 21-4 on the season and are one game ahead of the Sylvan Lake Gulls in the WCBL’s West Division standings.
Logan Grant (Chestermere, Alta.) had a double and three RBIs to lead the Dawgs’ offence, while Aidan Rose (Calgary, Alta.) added a hit and knocked in two runs. Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) and Caleb Lumbard (Regina, Sask.) also enjoyed two-hit games for the Dawgs.
On the mound, veteran left-hander Graham Brunner (Sherwood Park, Alta.) started and allowed just one run, while striking out six, in four innings to earn the win. Five different relievers would then close out the victory for the Dawgs, with Chase Tucker (St. Johns, Nfld.), Greg Ross (Sarnia, Ont.), and Trent Warstler (Emporia State University) all contributing scoreless innings.
The Dawgs will now head out on the road to take on the Lethbridge Bulls on Wednesday before returning to Seaman Stadium on Thursday to start a three-game series against the Edmonton Prospects.
