After winning their first three games on opening weekend, the Dawgs kept rolling with a 3-2 victory over the Sylvan Lake Gulls in Sylvan Lake on Tuesday.

The win pushes the Dawgs’ record to 4-0.

Dawgs pitchers combined for nine strikeouts in the win.

The Dawgs scored their three runs on just three hits. Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) scored in the second inning on a ground out by Caleb Lumbard (Regina, Sask.). In the following frame, Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) had a two-run single, which would be all the offence the Dawgs would need to secure the win.

Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) started and tossed five strong innings for the Dawgs.

The Dawgs made two highlight-reel catches behind McFarland in the third inning courtesy of Alejandro Cazorla (Okotoks, Alta.) and Thomas Cifalino.

McFarland finish his outing with two strikeouts and allowed one run on four four hits.

The Dawgs will make a quick trip home to battle the Fort McMurray Giants at Seaman Stadium on Wednesday at 7:05 pm, before heading back out on the road to take on the Brooks Bombers on Thursday at 7:05 pm.
