Sylvan Lake, Alta. - The Okotoks Dawgs lost 2-1 to the Sylvan Lake Gulls in front of 1,706 fans at Gulls Stadium on Tuesday.
The loss drops the Dawgs’ record to 28-11, and they now sit three games back of the Gulls (32-9) in the Western Canadian Baseball League’s West division standings.
The Dawgs had five hits, including two from second baseman Dawson Santana (Oregon State University). Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ont.) also had a double, while catcher Caleb Lumbard (Regina, Sask.) had a hit and scored the Dawgs’ only run.
On the mound, Graham Brunner (Sherwood Park, Alta.) started and allowed just one run on four hits, while striking out seven, in seven innings. Right-hander Aaron Hammer (Campbellsville University) took over for Brunner and allowed a run in 2/3 of an inning to take the loss.
