The Okotoks Dawgs would claw their way back in Medicine Hat against the Mavericks but fell just short, losing game 2 of the best-of-three WCBL Final 12-9.

It was the Dawgs’ first loss in the playoffs. The season now comes down to Game 3 between the two clubs at Seaman Stadium on Thursday night to decide who takes home the WCBL Championship.

On Wednesday, Eric Hartman (St. Albert, Alta.) belted a three-run home run in the ninth inning - his first home run of the playoffs - as part of a five-run rally for the Dawgs.

Aidan Rose (Calgary, Alta.) went 4-for-5 with an RBI for the Dawgs, while Eric Machej (Okotoks, Alta.) added a hit and an RBI.

On the mound, Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) started and allowed six runs in three innings to take the loss.
