June 3, 2020
Official Okotoks Dawgs Statement
Very sad to report that earlier today (Wednesday) we lost another member of the Dawgs baseball family. Bill Gardner, father of Dawgs Vice President, William Gardner passed away at the age of 86 years.
Managing Director, John Ircandia in reflecting on this sad occasion, offered these words:
“Bill has been a fixture at Dawgs Baseball games dating back almost 20 years. I first met Bill, almost always in the good company of his baseball entourage of fanatical fans, back in the days of the Calgary Cannons. I later had the pleasure of coaching his grandson, Will before he went on to play at the PBA and Eastern Oregon.
“Although Bill was very knowledgeable about the game, he also enjoyed the social aspect of an evening with family and friends watching his beloved Dawgs. Bottom line, Bill was a great guy and the Dawgs will miss him. Rest In Peace, Bill, there will always be a cherished seat for you right behind the Dawgs dugout.”
Dawgs send their sincere condolences to Bill’s wife, Elizabeth, son William, Connie, Will and family, Phil and the entire Gardner family.
