Okotoks, AB — The Melville Millionaires defeated the Okotoks Dawgs for the first time since June 26, 2015 with a 5-3 victory at Seaman Stadium on Thursday.

David Flores backed into his second save of the year when the Dawgs (14-7) loaded the bases twice in the ninth after J.T. Patterson (Bellevue University) and Riley Baasch (Bellevue University) earned walks, Eddie Sanchez (Central Arkansas University), Collin Ridout (Tennessee Wesleyan University) and Riley Baasch (Bellevue University) kept the line going with singles.

Ryan Humeniuk (Indian Hills Community College) grounded out to shortstop Kole Kaler to end the threat in front of 2,946 fans.

The Dawgs led 1-0 for the first six innings after Cole MacLaren (University of Pittsburgh) drove in his fifth run of the season in the second when his single up the middle cashed in Humeniuk, who also singled and stole second base.

Carter Robinson (Mesa Community College) cruised through the first six innings, struck out five and only allowed three hits. Pitching in the seventh inning for the second time this season, he allowed a leadoff single to Ryan Tackett, which was followed up by a two-run home run by Noah Freimuth. Robinson’s record dropped to 2-2.

Dawgs Academy product Brendan Logan came on in relief of Robinson and didn’t do much better. In the eighth with two outs, Logan hit Nik Pagan, gave up a double to Keaton Sullivan and a three-run home run to Tackett to make it 5-1.

Offensively, the Dawgs stranded a season-high 12 runners.

Tyler Ulrich went six innings for the Millionaires (7-14), gave up seven hits, struck out two, allowed one earned run and improved his record to 2-1.
