Official Okotoks Dawgs News Release

The win streak is over. The Okotoks Dawgs lost their first game of the season, 8-5 to the Giants in Fort McMurray on Thursday.

The Dawgs dropped the first of their four-game series, bringing their season record to 9-1.

Starting Pitcher Brady Baltus allowed seven runs on seven hits in 2 1/3 innings.

Relief pitching from Brody Forno (Okotoks, Alta.), Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.), Bode Brooks and Ethan Steer cooled off the Giants’ offence, however the deficit was too great for the Dawgs to overcome.

The offence got some help from Noah Geekie (Strathclair, Man.), McCoy Pearce (Kamloops, BC), Jake Hoskins and Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ont.) who put the five runs on the board. The Dawgs fought back in the ninth but ended up falling short.

The Dawgs will face the Giants Friday night in the second of their four-game series, before heading to Regina, Swift Current and Lethbridge. The Dawgs will return to the friendly confines of Seaman Stadium for the annual “Father’s Day” Extravaganza.
