Dawgs outlast Prospects for 4-2 win

Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Dawgs outlasted the Edmonton Prospects and picked up a 4-2 win at Seaman Stadium on Friday night.
The Dawgs (23-6) improved to 9-1 in their last 10 games with their third straight win.
The Prospects (14-18) jumped out to an early lead, scoring on back-to-back sacrifice plays in the second inning, before the Dawgs responded with four runs in the bottom half of the frame.
University of Nebraska infielder Shay Schanaman’s RBI double scored the first Dawgs’ run. Iowa-Western outfielder Isiah Peterson then tied the game with a sacrifice fly before back-to-back base hits from Oregon State commit Jacob Melton and Chandler-Gilbert outfielder Tristan Peters capped off the four-run inning.
Point University pitcher Billy Brand started and tossed five innings for the Dawgs. He allowed just two runs and struck out five en route to his second win of the season.
Lewis-Clark State hurler Tanner Simpson also hurled three perfect innings in relief for the Dawgs. Mesa College product Dustin Schorie then took over and struck out the side in the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the season.
The series now shifts to RE/MAX Field on Saturday with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
