Official Okotoks Dawgs News Release

The Okotoks Dawgs held their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game on July 31.

Pink was the theme of the afternoon, as fans wore their pink to the park, while players and coaches all wore pink jerseys which were auctioned off. The Dawgs partnered with the Canadian Cancer Foundation which is where all the proceeds from the auctions will be donated and dispersed to organizations within Alberta committed to cancer research.

While the Dawgs were victorious against Lethbridge, the real story of the afternoon was the Dawgs raising over $42,000 as a result of the live and silent auctions that were held during the game. Long-time Dawgs Academy player and current collegiate player Ricky Sanchez was the final player to have his jersey auctioned off which sold for over $8,000.

The fan support helped to make this event a tremendous success as loyal Dawgs fans and family members flocked to Seaman Stadium from all over Canada and the US to support the event.

The Breast Cancer Awareness game has been a staple promotional day in the Dawgs’ season schedule and the Dawgs are committed to hosting this event each year to continue raising money for cancer research
