The Okotoks Dawgs shut out the Fort McMurray Giants 6-0 at Seaman Stadium on Thursday night.

With the win, the Dawgs are now 38-14 on the season and they sit in second place in the Western Canadian Baseball League West Division standings, two games back of the Sylvan Lake Gulls.

Designated hitter Jarrett Burney (Reinhardt University) led the Dawgs’ offence, going 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Logan Grant (Chestermere, Alta.) also added two hits and an RBI. Grant has now doubled in each of his last three games.

Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) boosted his batting average to .382 with two more hits. He also knocked in a run.

On the mound, Brock Townsend (Bellevue University) started and struck out four in five scoreless innings to record the win.

Relievers Cade Herrman (Bellevue University), Gavin Wuschke (Regina, Sask.), and Easton Corey (Linn-Benton CC) then each tossed scoreless innings before Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University) closed out the game with a perfect ninth.

The Dawgs now head to Elks Field on Friday to take on the Brooks Bombers.
