The Okotoks Dawgs shut out the Edmonton Prospects 7-0 in front of 4,614 fans at Seaman Stadium on Friday night.

It was their third consecutive win to open the five-game series.

With the victory, the Dawgs move to 24-5 and remain atop the Western Canadian Baseball League’s West Division, a half-game ahead of the Sylvan Lake Gulls.

Tucker Zdunich (High River, Alta.) led the Dawgs’ offence with a double, a triple and four RBIs. Jarrett Burney (Reinhardt University) added three hits, including a triple in the seventh inning.

On the mound, Brock Townsend (Bellevue University) started and tossed four no-hit innings. Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.), Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan), Chase Tucker (St. Johns, Nfld.), and Aaron Hammer (Campbellsville University) followed with scoreless outings. McFarland struck out four in his two innings of work.

The Dawgs will finish their series with the Prospects with a doubleheader at Seaman Stadium on Saturday. The first game will begin at 4:00 p.m. and the second game will start at 7:05 p.m. These games will be considered Edmonton home games.
