Official Okotoks Dawgs News Release
The Okotoks Dawgs are excited to announce three big additions to the pitching staff for 2025: Gavin Wuschke (Regina, Sask.), Andrew Herbert (Reinhardt University) and Owen Pote (Sherwood Park, Alta.).
Fans will be familiar with Wuschke as 2025 will be his third season with the Dawgs. In 2024, Wuschke saw limited action due to a wrist injury. In seven appearances, including 4 starts, Wuschke went 5-0 record with a 1.42 ERA in 19 innings. Look for Wuschke to have a major impact in 2025 as he is fully healthy.
Herbert will be dawning the Dawgs uniform for the first time. Currently in his senior year at Reinhardt University, Herbert will be an impact arm for both the Eagles and Dawgs. With a fastball in the mid-90s, Herbert will be sure to impress Dawgs fans. In 2024 for Reinhardt, Herbert made 19 appearances (eight starts) and racked up 60 strikeouts in 56 innings.
Pote has found his way back home from the Sylvan Lake Gulls to the Dawgs for 2025. Son of Dawgs manager Lou Pote, he is in his freshman year at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kan. In 2024, Pote made 10 appearances (six starts) for the Gulls and posted a 2.92 ERA in 27 2/3 innings. Pote was also selected in the 19th round of the 2024 MLB draft by the Cincinnati Reds.
