The Okotoks Dawgs have signed outfielder Tucker Zdunich.
The team made the announcement on social media on Thursday.
Zdunich (High River, Alta.), who was an integral part of the Dawgs’ 2022 championship team, returns to the Dawgs after spending last summer with the Kenosha Kingfish of the Northwoods League.
In 50 games with the Dawgs in 2022, Zdunich hit .306 with five home runs and 44 RBIs. He also had 17 doubles, 45 runs and 11 stolen bases.
In all, he has played three seasons in the Western Canadian Baseball League, beginning with the Moose Jaw Miller Express in 2019. He made his debut with the Dawgs in the pandemic-shortened 2021 campaign when he batted .307 with five home runs in 33 games for the Dawgs Red squad.
In between summers, he has played two seasons with the NAIA’s Reinhardt Eagles. In 2023, he hit .337 with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs in 49 games for the Eagles. For his efforts, he was named to the AAC All-Conference First Team and the 2023 Alberta Dugout Stories All-College Team.
