OKOTOKS, Alta. — The Dawgs took the first of three-straight matchups with the Edmonton Prospects with a 10-1 victory on Saturday night at Seaman Stadium in front of 3,849 fans.

The Dawgs (28-12) jumped on the Prospects (19-19) early and coasted to their fourth-straight win.

Richard Mascarenas (Linn-Benton Community College) scored the first run when he ripped an RBI single in the second to score Nate DeChaine (Morningside College). Mascarenas scored on a fielder’s choice by Ryan Humeniuk (Indian Hills Community College) and later scored on a double by Riley Baasch (Bellevue University). Humeniuk also added a double of his own in the seventh that scored a pair of runs.

The Prospects got one back in the fourth when Eric Crain tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Beaux Guilbeau.

The Dawgs blew it open in the bottom of the sixth with five runs against Taran Oulton, who made his eighth start for the Prospects. Baasch picked up a sacrifice fly RBI, Eddie Sanchez (Central Arkansas University) drove in a pair with a single to right field and Will Hollis (Cisco College) cranked his third home run of the season, as he deposited his two-run shot over the centre field fence.

Oulton made it through the sixth, but got labeled with eight earned runs and only struck out four, as he fell to 3-2.

The eight runs was more than enough for starter Cody Ebert (Columbia College), who battled and made it through six innings, allowed one run and struck out seven, as he improved to 6-1. Ebert is four strikeouts away from setting a single season franchise record in strikeouts and has tied C.J. Lewington (2016, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) and Mason Swegarden (Mayville State University) for second all-time with his sixth win.
