The Okotoks Dawgs’ undefeated streak came to an end on Friday in a 1-0 loss to the Sylvan Lake Gulls.

The Dawgs recorded only two hits in the loss.

On the other hand, the Dawgs’ pitching was outstanding. Dawgs pitchers fanned 11 Gulls batters in the loss.

The Dawgs’ season record is now 6-1.

Elijha Hammill (Oakville, Ont.) smacked a triple in the third inning and finished 1-for-3 for the Dawgs, while Caleb Lumbard (Regina, Sask.) got the team’s only other hit in the fifth inning,

Garrett Maloney went three innings for the Dawgs and surrendered one run on seven hits, while striking out four. The Dawgs’ bullpen then stepped up and shut the door on the Gulls, permitting just three hits in six scoreless innings.

The Dawgs travel to Sylvan Lake for a rematch on Saturday night. Meanwhile, at Seaman Stadium on Saturday night, the Futures Game is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. The contest will allow fans to see up-and-coming Dawgs stars in action.
