OKOTOKS, Alta. — The Okotoks Dawgs completed the weekend sweep over the Edmonton Prospects with a 9-5 win this afternoon at Seaman Stadium.

It was also the 10th annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game, where in between each inning, the commemorative pink Dawgs jerseys were auctioned off to the crowd of 4,002 fans.

The Dawgs raised $21,375 this afternoon, which meant that throughout the years, the Dawgs have raised over $370,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

The Prospects broke a scoreless tie in the fourth with an RBI single by Beaux Guilbeau that scored Eric Crain.

Cam Doherty (Mesa Community College) settled down after that and went five innings, allowed three hits, one earned run and struck out five, as he improved to 3-2.

At the end of each half inning, two game-worn jerseys went up for auction. The University of Pittsburgh product Cole MacLaren saw his jersey raise the most money, when the final bid brought in $2,100. Eddie Sanchez (Central Arkansas University) was second at $1,500, while Collin Ridout (Tennessee Wesleyan University) and Carter Robinson (Mesa Community College) each brought in $1,000.

The Dawgs got to Prospects starter Rich Walker in the fourth when J.T. Patterson (Bellevue University) singled home Richard Mascarenas (Linn-Benton Community College), Ridout drove home Patterson and Sanchez cashed in Marcus Skundrich (Mesa Community College) and Ridout. Will Hollis (Cisco College) cranked a two-out triple and came around to score on a single by Nate DeChaine (Morningside College).

Walker didn’t finish the inning, as he ended up being on the hook for five runs, three earned runs and struck out four in 3 2/3 innings, as his record fell to 4-3.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Dawgs used back-to-back doubles by Ridout and Hollis to extend the lead to 6-1.

In the top of the seventh, the Prospects had the bases loaded with two out, when Baasch mishandled a chopper at first base and allowed two runs to cross.

The Dawgs put a bow on the afternoon by scoring three more runs in the bottom of the eighth, when Jacob Bouzide (Colby Community College) drew a bases loaded walk, Ryan Humeniuk (Indian Hills Community College) singled to score Brandon Sparks (Bellevue University) and Patterson scored Danny Donnelly (Chandler-Gilbert Community College) on a sacrifice fly.

Crain tacked on a two-run single in the top of the ninth for the Prospects before the afternoon was done.
