Charles Demers has been named the new president of the Québec Capitales of the independent Frontier League.
He replaces longtime president Michel Laplante, who re-signed following the Capitales’ championship-winning 2024 season.
Demers has been a central figure in the team’s administration. He joined the Capitales more than 10 years ago as a volunteer and has since risen through the ranks to become the club’s general manager and vice-president for the past five years.
The Capitales’ news release lauds Demers marketing expertise, leadership and commitment to baseball operations.
Laplante had spent 25 years with the Capitales as a player, coach, manager, co-owner and most recently, president. Earlier this month, he told CBN’s Melissa Verge that stepping away from the Capitales will open the door for new opportunities to grow the game in his home province.
One of Laplante’s priorities is bringing a multi-sport facility to Montreal that functions for baseball as well as other sports.
“I would like to finish my time at Baseball Quebec saying ‘You know what? We did it,’” Laplante said of the multi-sport facility.
