The Junior National Team fell 5-3 to Los Angeles Dodgers DSL on Saturday, despite outhitting the Dodgers eight to six.

Box Score

The Juniors got on board first in the top of the second thanks to an Adyn Schell (Toronto, Ont.) RBI double that scored Carter Cathers (Nanaimo, BC) after he had walked.

Junior National Team starter Michael Yusypchuk (Edmonton, Alta.) allowed a home run to Dodgers’ outfield prospect Edwin Sanchez and three runs in the fourth inning, but was otherwise dominant in his four innings of work.

Owen Gregg (Oakville, Ont.) had a clutch RBI triple that got the Juniors right back into the game, shortening the Dodgers’ lead to 3-2 at the time.

LHP Sean Duncan (Port Coquitlam, BC) permitted two Dodger runs, despite punching out six batters over his three innings in relief.

Ryan Stalony (Mississauga, Ont.) continued to swing a red-hot bat for the Juniors, finishing 2-for-4 with a clutch RBI single late in the game.

Leo Cote (Ayer’s Cliff, Que.) needed only six pitches to cruise through a perfect bottom of the eighth.

The Juniors will be back in action on Monday with a doubleheader against the Reds DSL and Angels DSL squads.
