2011-12 Men's Baseball
Knocking on the door of national success for a number of years, reaching the CIBA national championship final four in five of the six years prior, the 2011-12 men's baseball team made history when they captured the first national banner in DC men's baseball history.
The Lords reached the national championship after winning the CIBA Ontario provincial championship, defeating the Humber Hawks in a doubleheader, 6-0 and 3-0. Tyler Mitchell earned the CIBA Ontario provincial championship batting title.
Heading to New Brunswick for the CIBA national championship, the Lords bounced back from an opening game 4-2 loss to Humber to defeat Concordia and Crandall, qualifying for the semifinal round. In a rematch with Concordia, DC earned their place in the gold medal game after tightly contested 3-2 win.
Meeting the Humber Hawks in a rematch of the opening contest for the championship final, the Lords scored four runs in the first two innings, while starting pitcher Shawn Lamb delivered a complete game five-hitter. The early offence and strong pitching led to a 6-1 championship victory and the first national banner in 20 years of Durham College baseball. Jason Wiles and Dan Alayon were named CIBA all-Canadians, while Alayon was also awarded with the CIBA national championship batting title.
