There may -- or may not -- be a summer schedule for Canada’s elite teams.

Yet, one thing we know, one thing a virus can’t take away, are the players named to the Rawlings-Perfect Game Preseason All-Region First Team selections. Canada is grouped with Puerto Rico, which also has players eligible for the draft.

Joey Ellison’s Ontario Blue Jays as well as Doug Matieson and Jamie Bodaly’s Langley Blaze each had five Canadians on the First Team.

Blaze players included RHP Theo Millas (Burnaby, BC) who has committed to LSU, RHP Noah Takacs (Victoria, BC) is Sacramento State bound, LHP Justin Thorsteinson (Langley, BC), an Oregon State signee, C Russell Young (Cloverdale, BC), who is Gonzaga-bound. and 3B Brody Alexandre (Swift Current, Sask.)..

OF David Calabrese (Maple, Ont.) signed to attend Arkansas is the first of the Ontario Blue Jays followed by LHP Caden Griffin (Nepean, Ont.) who plans on heading to Missouri, LHP Nick Fraser (Burlington, Ont.), RHP Stephen Kinal (Terra Cotta, Ont.) and RHP Jason Zhang (Ottawa, Ont.).

Academy Baseball Canada had three players named to the First Team, while the Fieldhouse Pirates had a pair.

All in all (First Team and Honourable Mentions) the Ontario Blue Jays lead with 12 players named, the ABC had 10 and the Blaze had nine. The Toronto Mets have seven, Fieldhouse Pirates three, Ontario Terriers and Okotoks Dawgs with two each.
