Jackson Soucie was ranked the ninth best junior college recruit on Perfect Game’s top 281 list of incoming JUCO talent in October.
Well, fall ball has come and gone. So have the first few weeks of the season for most teams.
And Soucie’s stock has increased.
The former Grand River Flying Squirrel LHP Soucie (Cambridge, Ont.) was ranked fourth among the top 500 JUCO prospects. He’s the top Canuck of the 15 on Perfect Game’s list of top 500 prospects heading into the July draft. Tis early we know. Soucie had signed to pitch for the Ontario Nationals, but the COVID year closed that door and he headed south.
But rankings and ratings are ratings and rankings ... and as you read this Soucie of the Wabash Valley Warriors is No. 4.
The second-highest Canuck is Okotoks Dawgs’ pitching coach Jeff Duda’s star pupil: LHP Matt Wilkinson (Ladner, BC) of the Central Arizona Vaqueros. He is ranked No. 59.
Rounding out the top five are: No. 74. RHP Louis-Philip Langevin (Montreal, Que.), who is Soucie’s teammate at Wabash Valley; No. 75. RHP Carson Latimer (Delta, BC) Cloud County Thunderbirds and No. 171. RHP Cooper Crompton (Langley, BC) of the Iowa Western Reivers.
