Tis that time of the year again.

As Paul Molitor said when asked why opening day was Opening Day, “It’s why we took all those swings indoors and why we worked so hard all winter -- who knows maybe they’ll never get me out this season.”

The Canadian Premier League all-stars are headed to Arizona under coaches Marc Antoine Berube (Laval, Que.), T.J. Burton (Ottawa, Ont.), Jamie Romak (London, Ont.) and Adam Stern (London, Ont.).

The Academie Baseball Canada and Ontario Blue Jays led the way with the most players on the club with seven apiece… the roster:

Three three Oshawa Legionaires Elite teams will spend March break in Florida.

The 18U and 15U Legionaires  teams are headed to Vero Beach, former home of Dodgertown for games, workouts and college tours and beach time!!  Teams left March 6 and will return on March 15. 

Tim Harkness Jr., coach of the 15U team is the son of former big leaguer Tim Harkness, who played for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1961 and 1962 and spent his springs at Vero. Harkness then moved on to play two seasons with the New York Mets.

The 16u team is heading to Baseball City in St. Petersburg.

The Okotoks Dawgs are heading to Arizona. The Dawgs have produced the likes of INF Jack Lines (Calgary, Alta.) who went in the 12th round to the Tampa Bay Rays and was given a $397,500 bonus as well as OF Eric Hartman ( St. Albert, Alta.) a  20th rounder who went to the Atlanta Braves, signing for $337,500 and OF Micah McDowell (Coldbrook, NS) a 17th round, who was drafted by the Miami Marlins signing for $100,000 in 2024.

Also, LHP Matt Wilkinson (Surrey, BC) a 10th round pick of the Cleveland Guardians in 2023, earned Canadian Baseball Network pitcher of the year in affiliated ball in 2024.

The Langley Blaze will play eight games at major-league facilities against first and second-year pros, including the annual Wayne Norton Memorial game against Seattle Mariners farmhands. Norton (Port Moody, BC) scouted for the Mariners and was elected to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Marys in 2016.
