Nick Trogrlic-Iverson wanted to get better.
After five years with the Field House Pirates, Trogrlic-Iverson (Oakville, Ont.) hooked up with the Langley Blaze team in the BC Premier League in grade 11 to billet.
Then he headed south with the Arizona Diamond Backs Scout Team on their spring trip.
Trogrlic-Iverson told PBR’s Alexis Brudnicki during the 2015 Tournament 12: “You get to play almost a 100 more games (in BC), so there’s a little more exposure, so that’s why I moved … It’s mostly the weather.
“It snows a lot (in Oakville) and in that area near Vancouver it doesn’t snow. It’s still playable all the time so you get to have a lot more games.”
Trogrlic-Iverson headed off to pitch for the Central Arizona Vaqueros last year. His efforts has the sophomore rated No. 5 in the top 75 junior college players heading into the June 2018 draft, according to the Perfect Game Scouting Service.
Scouts say he hit 92-93 MPH in fall ball and sat comfortably at 89-91 MPH. He has plus slider and changeup.
His former Langley teammate, who also pitched for Doug Mathieson and Jamie Bodaly, Indigo Diaz (Vancouver, BC) is the other Canadian player ranked in the top 75 at No. 14.
Reliever Trogerlic-Iverson was 4-3 with two saves and a 3,04 ERA. He walked 14 and struck out 40 in 47 1/3 innings in 24 games. He has signed a Letter of Intent to attend Bing Crosby’s school, the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
Diaz was 3-1 with a 5.93 ERA. He walked 21 and struck out 39 in 16 games making two starts. Diaz is headed for Michigan State next fall.
