Elliott: Woods solves problems with home-made mound

We heard it maybe once or 500 times since this virus business began:
“If you build it, they will come.”
Jordan Woods built his own portable mound -- without the help of his father Len Woods.
And once completed, Woods (Oakville, Ont.) was on the mound throwing a bullpen to get ready in case skipper Dean Dicenzo (Hamilton, Ont.) calls with news of when or if the season will begin again.
Not everyone has the supplies. Not everyone has the space. But teenagers are trying to be ready IF there is any ball to play this summer. But Woods has the drive ... and the carpentry skills.
The Ontario Terriers LHP Woods came to the decision to “built it” after he and his brother, Trevie, were threatened with a fine from a bylaw officer from the town of Oakville if they returned to Oakville’s River Oaks diamond for a bullpen session..
So, Jordan built a portable pitching mound -- with his father Len supervising the construction site -- which enabled Jordan to get in bullpens at home.
And his younger brother Trevie does the catching.
