Coach Mike Steed’s arms were locked, loaded and ready for prime time play.
Nelson Mercado, Liam Watt and Nate Rosser combined on a five-hitter as the Ontario Blue Jays thumped the 643 DP Cougars 12-1 at the Perfect Game World Wood Bat championships in Fort Myers. The win moved the Ontario Blue Jays to 2-0 with an exhibition game win as well.
Mercado (Brampton, Ont.) allowed two hits in his scoreless two outings. He threw 36 pitches (69% for strikes). His fastball topped out at 91 MPH.
Next to the mound was LHP Liam Watt (Burlington, Ont.) who allowed two hits while striking out three. He had a 26-pitch outing (65% strikes) and hit 81 MPH. Pitching the final inning was RHP Nate Rosser (Delta, BC) allowing a run on a hit and a walk. Hitting 88 MPH he threw 25 pitches (56% strikes).
1B Josiah Devapalan (Brampton, Ont.) and 3B Aiden McAskie (Toronto, Ont.) each knocked in two runs. Devapalan had a pair of hits, including a double. He is hitting .500 through two games.
C Lucas Johnson (Burlington, Ont.) had a run-scoring hit, while Mackenzie Mitchell (Toronto, Ont.) and 2B Adrian Dominguez (Vaughan, Ont.) added hits. CF Glenn Noronha (Mississauga, Ont.) also knocked in a run.

Great Lake Canadians RHP Tanner Dawe (London, Ont.) worked a scoreless inning as the Brewers Langley Blaze lost 7-1 to the Mets Scout Team/Georgia Bombers.
Dawe gave up one hit and struck out the side hitting 89 MPH. He threw 24 pitches (50% strikes).
Langley is now 1-1 with exhibition game loss.

Great Lake Canadians 2B Core Jackson (Wyoming, Ont.) singled as the Ohio Warhawks blanked Miami PG Columbia Blue 10-0.
The Warhawks are 2-0 as well as splitting a pair of exhibition games, edging the 643 DP Cougars 2-1 and losing 4-3 to the Reds Midwest Scout Team.
