Ellis named Terriers' College Player of the Week

Left-hander Campbell Ellis took the mound with Virginia Commonwealth University's series with Richmond on the line Sunday.

After splitting the first two games, Ellis worked five innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk.

Exiting the game down 2-1, the Rams would go on to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth for a 4-3 come-from-behind walk-off win.

Ellis, a junior, has a career 16-10 record with four saves and a 4.82 ERA over 52 appearances.

Honourable Mentions

AJ Karosas had five hits, walked seven times, drove in seven, stole a base and was hit by a pitch as the University of Charleston won the Mountain East Conference Tournament for the second year in a row. He went 2-for-5 with three RBIs in the championship game, a 12-8 victory over Frostburg State.

Owen MacNeil threw a scoreless inning of relief for the University on Charleston in their 21-11 MEC tournament win over Concord. He allowed two hits and recorded a strikeout.

Right-hander Sam Worthen was selected to the All-East Coast Conference Second Team after finishing second in the conference with seven saves. He posted a 1.72 ERA in ECC play.

Northeastern Junior College catcher Josh Cote was named to the Region IX All-Conference First Team. Cote hit .343 with 14 home runs and 49 RBIs in 45 games for the Plainsmen.

Infielder Austin Gomm collected six hits, walked twice and drove in five as Parkland College closed out their regular season taking three of four from Lewis and Clark. His home run in Game 3, his 18th of the season, gives him the single season record at the school. He surpasses Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier who had 17.

Matt Ward chipped in five hits, two walks and a RBI in four games for Niagara University.

Hugh Pinkney went 2-for-4 with a RBI in a 3-0 Game 3 Rutgers win over Illinois. The Scarlet Knights took two of three and wrap up the regular season this weekend with a three-game series at Minnesota.

Connor O'Halloran earned his eighth win by throwing 7 2/3 innings in the University of Michigan's 12-5 victory over Northwestern. The junior southpaw gave up five runs on eight hits and struck out nine.

Brother Ryan had five hits, five walks, and two stolen bases in five games for Butler University.
