Evan McDonald Signs Free Agent Deal With Blue Jays
Senior shortstop gets a chance to play professional baseball

STATESBORO, GA. - Georgia Southern Baseball senior Evan McDonald has been signed as an undrafted free agent by the Toronto Blue Jays.
A native of Platte City, Mo., McDonald started 49 games in 2017 at shortstop with a .256 batting average. He is the sixth Georgian Southern Eagle from the 2017 squad to go pro and he joins teammate Jacob Condra-Bogan in the Blue Jays organization.
McDonald played two seasons for the Eagles after starting his career at Barton County Community College. He hit his only home run of 2017 in an eighth inning rally of the series finale at Louisiana. He also scored 23 runs, drove in 27 and lashed four doubles last year.
