The Toronto Blue Jays got a couple of their minor league management positions in order today as Alexis Brudnicki has tweeted that Ken Huckaby and Cesar Martin will manage the Blue Jays' triple-A and double-A affiliates, respectively.
Both of these positions opened up shortly after the minor league season ended back in September with both Bobby Meacham and Mike Mordecai leaving the organization. Meacham was with the Blue Jays' organization since 2014, managing in New Hampshire and then in Buffalo while Mordecai held a number of positions in the organizations since 2010, starting as the minor league infield coordinator. He was also the Blue Jays' major-league quality control coach in 2018 and the manager of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in 2019.
Huckaby has been the Blue Jays' catching coordinator for the past three years and returns to a managerial role after guiding the the Lansing Lugnuts and Dunedin Blue Jays to playoff spots in consecutive years in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Huckaby is a former big league catcher who played a total of 161 games in the majors over the course of six seasons before getting into coaching.
Cesar Martin takes over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats after managing in Lansing in 2018 and in Dunedin in 2019. Martin guided the Dunedin Blue Jays to the second-best record in the Florida State League, going 80-55 and winning both halves of the North Division schedule. Unfortunately, the playoffs were cancelled by Hurricane Dorian, leaving Martin's Blue Jays without a chance to compete for a league championship. The Lugnuts made the playoffs in 2018, losing in the first round to the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
The rest of the staffs have not been announced at this time but we'll have the info when it is released.
