Ex-Terriers Carey, Johnson, Sanasie-Edwards, Ward shine in U.S. college ranks

The pressure is mounting as postseason pushes are on in college baseball and Ontario Terrier graduates have been up to the task for their teams.

Ward with eight-hit week

The Niagara Purple Eagles have won back-to-back Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series and five of their last six games overall. Matt Ward chipped in eight hits and four RBIs as his team took a midweek game against rival Canisius and then two of three from Siena. Ward hit a solo home run in a 10-8 Game 1 loss to the Saints.

Carey comes out of the bullpen

Liam Carey made three scoreless appearances out of the Muskingum Muskies’ bullpen. His first was a scoreless inning with a strikeout in a 7-1 win over Franciscan. Then he threw one inning with two strikeouts in a 2-1 win over Capital. He was called upon again in the next game, a 9-4 loss to Otterbein, and worked a 1/3 of an inning with a strikeout.

Ellis starts against No. 8 Virginia

Southpaw Campbell Ellis threw three innings and allowed one run on three hits as the Virginia Commonwealth Rams went on to beat No. 8 Virginia 9-7 in extra innings. Ellis walked one and struck out a pair.

Giberson appears twice

Ryan Giberson first saw action out of the Belmont Abbey bullpen in a 13-10 Game 1 win over Southern Wesleyan when he threw a scoreless 1/3 of an inning. He was back in action in Game 3, tossing two innings, while allowing a run on one hit, with a walk and a strikeout.

Busy week for Johnson

Adrian College played eight games last week and Dylan Johnson was in the lineup for all of them. He totaled 11 hits, three walks, nine RBIs and was hit by a pair of pitches. His best game came in a 28-8 thumping of Olivet when he went 4-for-5 with a three-run home run, a walk and four RBIs.

Marriott, Hendrix close out regular season

Zach Marriott had two hits, six walks and three RBIs for Hendrix College last week as they put a bow on their regular season. They finish 27-13 and will take on Oglethorpe in Game 1 of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament on Thursday. Marriott holds a .339 batting average which is good for third on the team.

Worthen doesn't allow a run

Known for his consistency while with the Terriers, Sam Worthen showed it for the D'Youville Saints last week. Worthen worked a scoreless inning with a pair of punch outs in the Saints’ 7-3 Game 1 win over Lincoln. In a 6-2 Game 2 victory, he threw a scoreless inning and struck out two more.

Offman shows off offensive ability

Tyler Offman collected a hit and a walk in New York University's 10-9 win over Stockton.

Russell pitches and hits for Battlers

As he has all season long, Julian Russell appeared both on the mound and in the batter’s box for Alderson Broaddus. Russell hurled 1 1/3 scoreless innings in a 7-6 loss to West Liberty. He walked two and struck out two. During a 6-4 loss to West Liberty in their next game, he walked.

Wojtarowicz, Brown combine for five innings

Both Andre Wojtarowicz and Matt Brown were on the mound for Frontier Community College in their three-game series with Shawnee.

Wojtarowicz threw a scoreless inning in an 11-1 Game 1 win. He walked one and struck out two.

Brown got the start in Game 3 and lasted four innings. The right-hander surrendered two runs (one earned) on three hits, with a walk and two strikeouts in a 12-2 victory.

Carr-Matthews comes through in relief

Connor Carr-Matthews spun a scoreless inning of relief in Wells College's 16-4 loss to Penn State-Abington. His only blemish was a free pass.

Mahoney in the middle of Michigan Juco showdown

Two Michigan junior college's faced off as Lake Michigan took on Mid Michigan in a four-game series. Jacob Mahoney had two hits and two RBIs for Lake Michigan. Nothing was solved, however, as the teams split the four-game series.

Sanasie-Edwards slaps five hits

Ethan Sanasie-Edwards got on five times via a hit, five times via a walk, and drove in one in five games played for St. Clair County Community College

Earle goes two in relief

Lefty Lucas Earle threw two scoreless innings of relief for Allan Hancock in a 12-2 victory over Moorpark. He scattered a hit, two walks and struck out three.

O'Halloran continues impressive play

Ryan O'Halloran produced five hits, four RBIs, two stolen bases and was hit by a pitch in five games for Butler.

Erie runs win streak to six

It's a fun time to be an Erie Community College Kat these days. They won all four of their games last week, which pushes their win streak to six and their record to 27-10-1. AJ Karosas amassed three hits, three walks and four RBIs in the four wins.
