Forty-four of the top baseball players from across the province will compete at the second annual Canadian Premier Baseball League All-Star Showcase this weekend.

The blue and gold will be well represented as five Ontario Terriers will take the field in the event being held in Oakville and Dorchester. Suiting up for Team Black will be outfielder Cameron Chee-Aloy, outfielder Keegan O’Hearn, catcher Hugh Pinkney and left handed hurler Jordan Woods. In the opposing dugout playing for Team Red will be infielder/outfielder Lucas Alberti.

A sixth Terrier, left handed pitcher Luca Alagheband was named as a reserve.

The rosters were selected by a group of Major League Baseball scouts, many of which will be on hand to evaluate the up and coming talent.

Originally scheduled over three days, the showcase has been shortened to two days due to weather concerns on Saturday. The competition will kickoff with a 10-12 inning game on Friday night at the home of the Terriers, King's Christian Collegiate, beginning at 6:45 p.m. Game 2, another 10-12 inning game, will go on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Dorchester Field of Dreams. A Home Run Derby will take place immediately following the second game.

Terriers Director of Baseball Operations and 15U manager Rick Johnston took some time to break down what each player brings to the table.

Lucas Alberti - INF/OF

"Lucas is a right handed hitting infielder and outfielder with a high baseball IQ. A gap-to-gap hitter, he has a good understanding of hitting and consistently gets his barrel to the baseball."

College Commitment: Uncommitted

Cameron Chee-Aloy - OF

"Chee-Aloy is a right handed hitting outfielder who is strong and loose. He played for the Canadian Junior National Team this summer and fall. His hands are extremely quick and he squares up a lot of pitches. One of the major strengths of his game is his speed and ability to run the bases. He has a strong arm and is a very good defensive player that can go get balls in the gaps. A sparkplug who has fun playing the game, he was the MVP of the 2020 showcase."

College Commitment: Uncommitted

Keegan O'Hearn - OF

"A 6-foot-5 left-handed hitting and throwing outfielder, O'Hearn has the ability to drive the ball to all parts of the park. He is a good defender thanks to his strong reads and has topped out at 92 mph from the outfield. A leader by example, he's not afraid to play small ball and knows how to make his way around the bases."

College Commitment: Uncommitted

Hugh Pinkney - C

"Hugh's a left handed hitting catcher who is long and strong. Behind the plate he is a good receiver with soft hands that knows how to handle the pitching staff. He also throws well with a good transfer. On the offensive side he is a line drive, gap-to-gap hitter."

College Commitment: Rutgers University (NCAA Division I)

Jordan Woods - LHP

"Armed with a mid 80's fastball and a plus curveball for his age, Woods also just returned from a trip to Florida with the Canadian Junior National Team. He has a good feel for pitching and controls the running game well."

College Commitment: East Tennessee State University (NCAA Division I)

Reserve:

Luca Alagheband - LHP

"Alagheband features an 80-82 mph fastball from a high 3/4 arm slot to go along with a curveball and changeup. The changeup is his best secondary offering but his curveball has a chance to be late and sharp. Standing 6-foot-3, he has plus mound presence."
