Case strikes out 10 in Dawgs' win over Bombers

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Brooks Bombers 7-5, splitting the doubleheader.

A major seventh inning saw the Dawgs offence come alive and take a lead the Bombers could not overcome. The Dawgs now own a 23-8 record and remain first in the west division.

David Case made a significant impact in his first start of the season, tossing six strong innings, while only allowing three hits and striking out 10 batters. Relief efforts from Rylan Penner (Blumenort, Man.) and Connor Robbins (Calgary, Alta.) helped to shut down the Bombers offence. Robbins earned his second win of the season for his efforts.

Jacob Morrow blew the game wide open in the seventh inning with a grand slam that sparked the offence. Morrow finished the double-header going 3-for-7 with two home runs and eight RBIs. Ricky Sanchez and Micah McDowell (Kentville, N.S.) both had one hit and one RBI in the contest.

The Dawgs’ will travel to Lethbridge on Monday to conclude their road trip. The Dawgs will return to Seaman Stadium on Wednesday to begin a three-game homestand.
