Ten years after having part of his right leg amputated, 1980 Expos sensation Ron LeFlore is undergoing treatment for "really bad'' circulation in his left leg.

LeFlore said in an interview that a surgeon "opened up some veins to insert some stents'' during a recent procedure at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla. He said doctors weren't concerned that he might lose his left leg.

LeFlore said he spent six weeks in hospital and at a recovery home and then needed to be in quarantine as required by pandemic regulations.

LeFlore, who is struggling to survive on disability funds and his pension from the Major League Baseball Players Association, told this reporter that he could use some extra money to pay for expenses not covered by his insurance plan.

"I need the money. I have to go back into hospital again (March 28) for them to treat an infection in my left leg,'' LeFlore said. "The blood circulation is really bad.''

A GoFundMe page is being set up to raise money for LeFlore.

LeFlore stole 97 bases in 1980, a feat that remains an Expos club record.
