Former Montreal Expos utility player and current Washington Nationals broadcaster F.P. Santangelo has been accused by a woman of sexual misconduct, The Athletic has reported.

An employee of the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network, Santangelo, 53, was pulled from a Nationals game this past Sunday due to the allegations. He has not been charged.

That marked the fifth time in nine days that Santangelo, 53, has been pulled from a broadcast. The Athletic said he was removed from each game because of the woman's complaints.

The woman told the Athletic that Santangelo made unwanted advances toward her and sexually assaulted her several years ago while ignoring her pleas to stop. The woman is remaining anonymous and does not plan to take action against Santangelo.

Santangelo has been a colour commentator for the Nationals for the last 10 years. He played for the Expos from 1995 to 1998 and also suited up for the triple-A Ottawa Lynx in 1993-95 and was there for a rehab assignment in 1998.

Santangelo’s best season with the Expos was in 1996 when he hit .277 with seven homers and 56 RBIs.
