Former Toronto Blue Jays’ equipment and clubhouse manager Jeff Ross recently lost his home in Hudson, Fla., during Hurricane Helene.

According to his former Blue Jays colleague, Kevin Malloy, who has started a GoFundMe page, Ross had just purchased the home and moved in a few weeks ago.

“Jeff had over five feet of storm surge in the house,” writes Malloy.

“A complete rebuild is not an option due to insurance restrictions,” added Malloy. “All the walls, flooring, electrical etc. are all being removed and will have to be replaced/rebuilt. Jeff’s policy did not cover ‘contents of the house’ thus he is on his own to replace everything he and [his wife] Mary had in the house. Other than his golf clubs that he had in the back of his truck at the time, everything else is gone.”

Ross, who worked for the Blue Jays for 36 years, is currently living in a rental house in Hudson.

Malloy has encouraged people to step up and help Ross out, and many ex-Jays have responded, including Carlos Delgado, Jeff DeWillis, Shawn Green, Tom Henke, Rance Mulliniks, Ron Musselman, Paul Quantrill and Ed Sprague. Former Blue Jays manager John Gibbons and longtime coach John McLaren have also donated.

“If you can, please consider donating to help Jeff and Mary start over. Every little bit helps, and they will be incredibly grateful for your generosity during this difficult time,” writes Malloy.
