Terriers Baseball alumni have wrapped up their respective college baseball seasons. Let’s take a look at five Terriers who stood out in 2021...
The last Terrier standing in NCAA Division I was left-handed pitcher Campbell Ellis of the Virginia Commonwealth Rams. The final appearance for Ellis came in the Rams 19-4 thumping of Campbell University in Game 1 of the Starkville Regional. Ellis picked up the win, his sixth of the season, by tossing three innings and allowing a run on two hits with two walks and a strikeout. The freshman finished with a 6-1 record to go along with a 3.25 ERA over 27 2/3 innings. Oh, and he’ll also come home with a ring on his finger as the Rams won the Atlantic 10 title. Not a bad rookie season.
Much like he did during his time with the Terriers, Zack Marriott mashed the oppositions pitching. Marriott hit .297 with a pair of home runs in 23 games for the Hendrix College Warriors.
Grant Okawa was named an All-Great Plains Athletic Conference Honourable Mention for his strong play with the Jamestown Jimmies. Okawa finished his senior season with a bang, hitting .304 with 16 doubles and six home runs. He played in all 53 of the Jimmies games.
The Erie Community College Kats made it all the way to the NJCAA Division III North District championship game and AJ Karosas played a big part in their successful season. Over 36 games played Karosas hit an eye popping .381. He drove in 24 and scored 23 times for the Kats.
Sam Turcotte spun 67 2/3 innings for the Stony Brook Seawolves in his final college campaign. He finished 6-3 with a 2.53 ERA and held opposing hitters to a .233 batting average.
The next group of college bound Terriers will hit campus throughout August and September.
