Ontario Terriers

Ontario Terriers alumni continued to shine on the college baseball circuit and more are set to hit the field this week.

Brown earns second win

For the second week in a row Matt Brown played a key role in a Frontier Community College victory. This time he held Hinds Community College to two runs on four hits over six innings of work. He struck out five to improve to 2-0 after two college starts.

Marriott helps Hendrix to series sweep

It was a dream start to the season for Hendrix College as they outscored the University of Dallas 37-8 en route to a three-game sweep. Zack Marriott started his campaign with a hit, two runs scored, and was hit by two pitches in an 11-4, Game 1 win. In Game 2 he collected a hit, walked, and scored two runs in an 11-1 victory. To help his team close out the sweep, Marriott chipped in a hit, two walks, scored two more runs, and stole a base in a convincing 15-3 win.

Earle picks up win in relief
Lucas Earle was summoned from the bullpen in the fifth inning and provided four scoreless innings of relief to pick up his first win of 2022 as Allan Hancock downed San Diego Mesa 9-3. Earle surrendered two hits, walked two and struck out four in the outing.

Wojtarowicz makes first start

Left hander Andre Wojtarowicz made his first college start in Game 3 of Frontier Community College's series with Hinds. Wojtarowicz worked into the fifth inning, coming out of the game after 4 1/3. The southpaw gave up three runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out four in the 3-2 loss.

D1 slate set to start

Five former Terriers will get their seasons underway on Friday, February 18 when the Division I campaign kicks off.

Right hander Ben Abram and the Oklahoma Sooners will take to the big stage of Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas for the second annual State Farm College Baseball Showdown. They'll take on Auburn, Arizona, and Michigan when they get there. That's no easy start to the season.

Left handed pitcher Campbell Ellis and the VCU Rams are the defending Atlantic 10 champions and will open the season against Rider, before rounding out opening weekend with games against Lafayette and Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Freshman infielder Elijha Hammill will head to Los Angeles as the University of Utah opens with a three-game set at Loyola Marymount.

Abram won't be the only former Terrier in Arlington. Southpaw Connor O'Halloran and the Michigan Wolverines will face Texas Tech, Kansas State, and Abram's Sooners in the Lone Star State.

The Niagara Purple Eagles will shake off the cold and head to North Carolina to face the University of Western Carolina Catamounts. Redshirt sophomore Matt Ward is one of three catchers on the Purple Eagles roster.
