Four more Canadians headed to Canisius

Canisius baseball head coach Matt Mazurek announced Thursday the first five members of the team's signing class for the 2021 season, as all five student-athletes have signed their National Letter of Intent. The class includes four Canadians, including three players from the prestigious Vauxhall Academy, and one New York native.
Lexi Abbott, Carlin Dick, Matt Duffy, Max Grant and Justin Guiliano will all start their collegiate careers with the Golden Griffins, providing a trio of arms and two bats to bolster the Blue and Gold's roster.
Lexi Abbott | RHP | 6-4 | 175 | Lethbridge, Alberta | Vauxhall Academy
• Pitched at the 2018 and 2019 editions of the Blue Jay's Tournament 12
• In 2019, played for the Lethbridge Bulls of the summer collegiate Western Canadian Baseball League
• Selected to the 2018 Alberta/Montana American Legion Class AA All-Conference Team as a member of the Lethbridge Elks
Carlin Dick | OF/1B | 5-8 | 200 | Abbotsford, British Columbia | Vauxhall Academy
• Posted a .345 batting average with nine doubles, a home run and 37 RBI in his junior year at Vauxhall
• Played for Team Green at the 2019 Tournament 12 showcase
• Led Team BC in 2018 and 2019 at the Canada Cup, finishing second in 2018 and third in 2019
• Helped the Abbotsford Cardinals to the 2018 BCPBL Provincial Championship
• Received the Reno Lizzi Scholarship at the 14th Annual Vauxhall Academy Awards Night
Matt Duffy | RHP | 6-1 | 190 | Burlington, Ontario | Assumption Catholic
• Played in the 2018 and 2019 editions of the Blue Jay's Tournament 12
• Helped the Great Lake Canadians to the 2016 U14 CPBL Championship and 2019 17U CPBL Championship
• Pitched for Team Ontario at 2017 PBR Future Games
• Was coached by former Griffs Shane Davis and Jon Fitzsimmons while playing for the Great Lake Canadians organization
• Father, Phil Duffy, was signed by the Kansas City Athletics in 1963 and played two seasons in the minor leagues

• Member of the 2020 Canadian Junior National Team
• Played at Tournament 12 in 2017, 2018 and 2019
• Was a part of Team New Brunswick at the 2018 and 2019 Canada Cup
• Named the 2017 Baseball NB Minor Player of the Year
• Received the Sports Connection Scholarship at the 14th Annual Vauxhall Academy Awards Night

• Named a Times Herald Record First Team All-Star
• Selected as a Daily Freeman First Team All-Star
• Tossed a no-hitter against Onteora during the 2019 season, striking out 17 batters
• Played travel ball with the Frozen Ropes Rockies
