Fournier leads Team Black to first win at Women's National Team Selection Camp

Team Black got their first win of the Women’s National Team Selection Camp with a 3-2 victory over Team Red in a closely contested pitching duel between the two sides in Ottawa on Saturday.

Alexane Fournier (St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que.) set the tone for Team Black early on providing them with four scoreless innings, permitting only a hit and a pair of walks while striking out four.

Ava Greiner (Stettler, Alta.) collected a pair of clutch hits for Team Black finishing her day 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk. Heather Healey (Paradise, Nfld.) also went 2-for-2 at the plate for Team Black with a run scored, as Greiner and Healey combined for four of the six hits for their squad.

Kaitlyn Ross (Redcliff, Alta.) continued to swing a hot bat in camp, picking up two of the three hits for Team Red over her three at bats. Mena Florio (Vaughan, Ont.) kept Team Red in the game through the middle innings, tossing 3 1/3 innings in relief and permitting a run on two hits while striking out one.
