Official Okotoks Dawgs News Release
The Okotoks Dawgs dropped their seventh game of the season on Friday night, losing to the Edmonton Prospects in extra innings by a score of 10-9.
The Dawgs now own a 22-7 record and remain first in the west division despite splitting both games vs Edmonton at Seaman Stadium.
Graham Brunner (Sherwood Park, Alta.) had his first rocky appearance of the season allowing seven hits and five earned runs in five innings.
Relief efforts from David Case, Matt Wilkinson (Okotoks, Alta.), Cade Hermann and Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Ata.) were no match for the Prospects’ offence, who were able to pull ahead in a close game.
Noah Geekie (Strathclair, Man.) led the Dawgs’ offense, going 3-for-4 with two walks and adding an RBI. Tucker Zdunich (High River, Alta.) drove in three runs and was a key part of the Dawgs’ comeback attempt that ultimately fell short.
The Dawgs failed to generate any offence in extras as the Prospects earned the win.
The Dawgs will wrap up their current home stand Saturday as they take on the Lethbridge Bulls, looking to bounce back from their Canada Day loss.
