Gélinas captures Sport Québec award

OTTAWA- Reigning Women’s National Team Most Valuable Player Daphnée Gélinas picked up some more hardware on Wednesday evening as she was presented with “International Team Sport Athlete” award at the 46th annual Sport Québec Gala in Montréal.

Gélinas was at her best on August 31st, 2018 when she slugged a three-run homer and also broke a tie in extra-innings with an RBI single that put Canada in the lead en route to a bronze medal win over the United States at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup in Viera, Fla.

A native of Repentigny, Québec - Gélinas led Canada with 9 RBI and a 1.244 OPS while hitting .409 in eight tournament games.

She has been a member of the Women’s National Team program since 2016 and has competed in two Women’s Baseball World Cup events.
