Burney, Crowson, Grant, Herrmann, Luera, Sanchez earn year-end awards from Dawgs

The Okotoks Dawgs, who won their third consecutive Western Canadian Baseball league championship in August, have started handing out their annual awards.
2024 Reliever of the Year - Cade Herrmann
Herrmann made 23 appearances during the regular season, allowing 18 hits while striking out 23 and walking only eight while posting a 2.07 ERA in 21 2/3 innings.
During the playoffs, Herrmann pitched in eight of the nine games en route to the 2024 championship. He did allow a run and struck out five batters in 4 1/3 innings.

2024 True Grit Award - Logan Grant (Chestermere, Alta.)
Grant, a product of the Dawgs Academy, proved versatile with his ability to play multiple positions. Whether it was catching, infield or outfield, he was reliable on both sides of the ball.
In the 2024 regular season, Grant hit .306 with 12 doubles, three triples and five home runs while collecting 32 RBIs and scoring 49 runs. During the 2024 championship run, Grant hit .281 with two doubles and one home run with five RBIs.

2024 Rookie of the Year - Jarrett Burney (Reinhardt University)
In Burney's first season with the Dawgs, he wreaked havoc on pitchers across the league. In 35 games during the regular season, Burney hit .441 with eight doubles, three triples and two home runs with 21 RBIs.

2024 Gold Glove Award - Ricardo Sanchez
Sanchez was versatile with the glove, splitting time between shortstop, second base and third base, Sanchez only comitted five errors all season. Offensively, he was no slouch either, batting .320 with six doubles and one home run with 15 RBIs while scoring 24 runs in 28 games.

2024 Pitcher of the Year - Ashton Luera
Luera is the first reliever in the Dawgs' history to be named the Pitcher of the Year. In 25 appearances during the regular season, he posted a 1.47 ERA and allowed just 13 hits in 24 1/3 innings, while racking up 47 strikeouts. Luera continued his dominance during the championship run, appearing in six of the nine games, registering 18 strikeouts and three saves in 10 innings.

2024 Most Valuable Player - Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.)
Crowson, also named WCBL Playoffs MVP, forever etched his name in Dawgs' history when he hit the three-peat clinching walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning against Moose Jaw in the WCBL Championship.
During the 2024 regular season, Crowson played in 45 games, batting .383 with 14 doubles, one triple and nine home runs while tallying 55 RBIs.
