Official Intercounty Baseball League News Release
The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) has announced its B45 Baseball Players of the Week for the week of June 5 - 11.
Guelph Royals infielder Brando Leroux (Markham, Ont.) was named Batter of the Week, following a .563 (9-for-16) week in which he drove in seven runs, hit two triples and scored nine runs.
Leroux, a Florida Atlantic commit, is hitting .377 on the season and played a major role in Guelph winning three of four games last week.
Kitchener Panthers pitcher Christian Hauck (Orangeville, Ont.) was named Pitcher of the Week, after hurling seven innings of scoreless baseball and striking out seven at London on June 9.
Hauck, a former OUA all-star at Laurier, scattered six hits while striking out seven against the Majors. The seven-year veteran's 2.20 earned run average leads qualified IBL starting pitchers, and he has won all three of his starts in 2023.
The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) is a top-level baseball league in Canada, boasting ex-major league professionals and elite NCAA college baseball players. The IBL is one of the longest continuously operated baseball leagues in the world and serves as a valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff. More than 40 IBL players have advanced to Major League Baseball or returned to the IBL following their MLB careers. The league is comprised of teams from Barrie, Brantford, Kitchener, London, Toronto, Guelph, Welland, and Hamilton.
