Historic Kinsmen Stadium will host PBLO showcase
OSHAWA TO HOST 2022 PBLO ALL-STAR GAMES
The Premier Baseball League of Ontario (PBLO) will be hosting a 2022 PBLO All-Star Game Showcase on Saturday, June 11.
The big event, that will be hosted by Oshawa, will consist of two nine-inning all-star games featuring the top junior (15U-16U) and top senior (18U) aged players in the PBLO playing in an East vs. West format.
Kinsmen Memorial Stadium, which has been host to numerous high profile provincial and national events, will be the site for the 2022 all-star games. The 2023 PBLO ASG will be hosted in London (Badgers).
The Oshawa Legionaires host committee has created an official ASG logo as well as planned an amazing all-star player experience for all participants.
The junior game (15U/16U) is scheduled for noon, while the senior game (18U) is set to go at 6 pm under the lights. Pre-game on-field warmup and batting practice starts two hours prior to game time.
As part of the all-star day experience, the schedule will include pre-game game check in and player packages, team on-field warmup, and batting practice sessions. Special player tees are being created that will also be a great souvenir keepsake of the event.
“We are extremely excited about this showcase event,” stated Don Campbell (Ottawa, Ont.), PBLO president. “It is going to be a great day for our league as well as our players that will be taking part.”
There will be additional player and fan experience topics like live game stats and scoring, PA announcer, music, player walk-up songs, in-dugout player refreshments and snacks, pre-game ceremonies, concession stand, personalized bullpen catchers for teams provided, custom team photo opportunities, as well as exploring live stream broadcast capabilities for both games.
“This is about putting on a great showcase for the PBLO and its talented players, we are thrilled to be hosting this special event”, said Ken Babcock, Oshawa elite programs director.
The PBLO teams will be divided into East and West for the games. The East team will be made up of players from Ottawa-Nepean Canadians, Ontario Yankees, Sudbury Voyageurs and Oshawa Legionaires. West – London Badgers, Midwestern Ontario Bearcats, Sarnia Braves and Tecumseh Thunder.
Roster nomination and selection process will take place involving coaches and the PBLO after the season begins in May.
This special all-star showcase is a part of the PBLO strategy to showcase its teams and players as well as providing a great opportunity for fans to see some of the best young college bound players in the province. More details about the 2022 PBLO all-star Games will be shared in the coming months. Official scouting roster program will be available.
Admission to the event is $5. While 12 and under and 65+ are FREE.
