Chandler, Arizona — Calgary native Tyler Hollick ‘12 will be honoured this weekend as the Coyotes host Eastern Arizona in a doubleheader.

Hollick, who played for the Coyotes in 2011 and 2012, was named the 2012 NJCAA Division II Player of the year by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and also unanimously voted Arizona Community College Athletic Association (ACCAC) Player of the Year by its coaches.

That season Hollick had a .468 batting average, 61 stolen bases, 53 walks, and nine triples. He still holds the all-time batting average and stolen bases record for Chandler-Gilbert and is the only Coyote named NJCAA National Player of the Year.

After the 2012 season, Hollick was drafted in the 14th round (448th overall) by the San Francisco Giants. He ended up playing for three teams within the Giants’ organization, including the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes where he notched 43 runs. He retired after the 2014 season and is now General Manager and Outfield Coordinator for the Okotoks Dawgs Academy, a high-performance youth baseball program in Okotoks, Alberta.
